Caity Lotz

What does being a rebel mean to you?To me being a rebel means choosing freedom and adventure over middle-class conformity. It means not only questioning society’s beliefs, but also standing up against them when necessary. A rebel offers an alternative way of being that is unaccepted or unrealized by the majority, bringing new possibilities into the world. In the world of Hollywood who do you think is a true rebel and why?Hollywood is a town full of rebels so it's hard to pick one. Something I do want to say, however, is that a TRUE rebel always has a cause. Hollywood made the term "rebel without a cause" famous, but it doesn't exist. A rebel is always serving a cause, consciously or unconsciously, as either a catalyst or an effect of the cause.During your career how have you gone against the grain and stayed true to yourself?I try and remember that my career isn't everything and it's not what defines me. A lot of people in Hollywood associate self-worth with fame and become so desperate to obtain it that they compromise themselves to try and achieve it. I understand that my value comes from within and that self-worth is only something I can give myself. I like to think this has freed me up to be able to become a passionate, creative, loving, and truthful artist.
